Feeding Philosophy of Ragdoll Cattery Institute

Over many years of breeding and raising traditional purebred Ragdolls, we have accumulated extensive experience in understanding their specific nutritional needs and developing feeding practices tailored to their growth and development. Based on our experience and observations, we have established our own feeding philosophy and compiled a comprehensive handbook to help our customers provide appropriate care during the initial adjustment period and throughout their cats’ lives.

For example, one area we pay particular attention to is digestive health. Through our experience, we have learned the importance of maintaining a consistent, well-managed feeding routine and taking a gradual approach to dietary changes. We therefore place considerable emphasis on supporting our kittens’ digestive development before they leave for their new homes, typically at around four to six months of age.

As part of our feeding program, we incorporate a carefully selected range of digestive-support products into our kittens’ daily diets from an early age, with the aim of supporting digestive function and helping them establish a stable feeding routine before adoption. We have found that kittens raised under this program often maintain good stool quality when their feeding routine is consistent and they are not overfed. They can also adapt more smoothly to new food brands, textures, or protein sources when we try to use as many as possible on the varieties of their daily food when the kittens are young enough, and it is what we are practicing as daily rountine currently.

Our goal is to give each kitten a strong nutritional foundation before moving to a new home, making it easier for new families to maintain digestive and immune health and establish a suitable feeding routine. With the foundation established through our breeding program, together with the practical guidance in our handbook, we hope to make the transition to a new home as smooth and straightforward as possible.

We personally provide each customer with our Ragdoll care and feeding handbook at the time of pickup. It contains our years accumulated experience, feeding recommendations, and practical guidance to help families understand their kitten’s nutritional needs, maintain consistency during the adjustment period, and make informed decisions about long-term care.

For us, responsible breeding does not end when a kitten leaves our cattery. We want every family to begin their journey with not only a well-raised Ragdoll, but also the knowledge, guidance, and ongoing support needed to care for their new companion with confidence.
